Eye brows are beautiful - SO LEAVE THEM ALONE!

This is just a quick word to all ma home girls!
Observe the ratio!

Eye brows are a quick way to read the face and can lead to a few basic assumptions about a gal:

1- Over plucked = trashy trash bag
2- Under plucked = hairy mammoth and or mannish
3- Nicely shaped and cared for  = Success!

Now I know it only takes one time for an overzealous esthetician to ruin your brows but the same can be said in the positive - If you are struggling to achieve the perfect arch and overall shape let an esthetician help you out. It is generally very inexpensive and can go along way to improving your entire look!
Exactly what not to do - EPIC FAIL.

Brows are back baby so let em do their thang!

peace out hommies, ox Fi K.

Time for a change in the'ol colour pallet!

I tend to wear kinda darker more subdued colours  through out the rainy and cold months, so when I realized that indeed spring had sprung I too decided to spring for some new colours.

I'm talk'n pretty pinks,  radiant roses, goddess golds and feisty fuchsias!

These can be incorporated through lip glosses, eye shadows,  bronzers, blushes and even hair accessories ie: clips, hair bands, hats, and even hair elastics come in fun sun celebrating colours.

Foundation is not the Enemy!

Image provided by makeupdict.com

So as you've probably gathered I'm a huge fan of foundation. Like the word implies it is the foundation for all other makeup you choose to adorn your face with.

Foundation comes in such a wide variety of colors, coverage and compositions.  Here are some tips for finding the right one for you!

  • What is it you want from your foundation?
    Image provided by becomegorgeous.com
    • Oil Control- water based products work best as they have low oil content, or pressed powders work well to counter act oil and shine
    • SPF protection - most foundations contain at least an SPF of 5
    • Hydration (moisturizers)- silcone based foundations help to hydrate the skin
    • Coverage- sheer to full

    • What kind of coverage are you looking for?
      • Tinted Moisturizers offer a great alternative to traditional foundations as they are light in pigment content and serve to hydrate the skin while evening out skin tone
      • Medium Coverage products often provide a very good day to day wear for those that need a bit more than tinted moisturizer (note: you will need to pair this with a moisturizer or primer underneath to keep your skin looking bright and fresh)
      • Full Coverage is for those who have problems with pigmentation, scarring or acne.  When applied properly they can mask most skin problems. You want to match the color with the area around your jaw line (note: you will most likely need a bronzer or blush to bring color back into the cheeks as Full Coverage products tend to wash out most of the existing color - good or bad in the face)
My biggest tip would definitely be: Don't be afraid to ask for help at the counter! That is what those pesky sales associates are for :)

    Cheers All, Fi K.

    Hot Lids

    image provided by: sheclick.com

Never heard of it? Well that's 'cuz I made it up.......sort of.  It's my description for eyes that eat makeup and melt it off underneath.

These eyes can ruin anything from eyeliner to mascara and even under eye concealer. Those of us who suffer from hot lids know just how frustrating this can be. You're always checking for that unseemly smudging of black that looks more walk of shame than walk of fame.

I've got news for you, it doesn't have to be this way, yay! Here are a few little tricks I have picked up. Now, you may only need to use one tip but for those of you whose lids run a rampant temp you may need to employ all tactics.

Tip One: Powder. It is the under eyes BFF. It will help create a barrier against wax and emollient based products so they in turn stay on their own stomping ground. Under eye concealers wont crease and eye liners won't bleed.

Tip Two: Tube Mascaras. They don't melt and move like mascaras (yes even waterproof ones)  They need warm water for removal and therefore are a great long wearing alternative for us hot lid sufferers.

Tip Three: Eyeshadow Bases: These provide a base for eyeshadow to adhere to and thus maintain their just applied look and feel.

    Peace out hommies,  Fi K.
